Clinical AI Sociotechnical Framework

The Clinical AI Sociotechnical Framework (CASoF) Checklist is designed to guide the design, development, and implementation of AI systems in clinical care.

It's purpose it to support designers, product managers, AI engineers, informaticians, clinicians, AI companies, healthcare organizations, administrators, etc., to plan, develop, and evaluate AI systems being developed or sold to them for use in clinical care.

This is a general-purpose checklist split across 3 different phases:

  • Planning Phase
  • Design & Development
  • Proposed Implementation

It covers key sociotechnical domains crucial for AI system development in clinical settings. Each stage has different domains under which there are specific questions that would be checked off to ensure that important factors are considered during the process. E.g. The planning stage has a Value Proposition, and Data domains under which there are different questions.
